Help Meredy

Latest (updated!)

This lovely little girl is only 4 years old yet she faces an uncertain future. A failure by medical staff to detect her condition at an early age means she now has to undergo serious and potentially life - threatening surgery.

Meredy suffers from craneosyntosis; a condition where the soft plates of the skull fuse together too early, resulting in a number of complications including failure of normal brain growth & development.

For more information see this link: http://www.emedicine.com/neuro/topic80.htm

Meredy's parents are ordinary people, they don't have the financial resources to pay for her operation and any subsequent medical care she needs. Seven, her Father, and Dunia, her Mother, are unable to get her treatment paid for by the Spanish health authorities. They have to travel from their home in Tenerife to Barcelona for her life saving treatment. During the operation, which will last upto 8 or 9 hours, Seven will literally be by her bedside - he is the same blood group as Meredy and she is expected to need to have the majority of her blood replaced.

How you can help

How many times do we get asked to help and don't get around to doing anything? Maybe you think you can't afford to give enough to make a difference. This is where you may well be wrong - if everyone who reads this was to give just a little, it could make the difference between success and failure, I don't want to spell out what that could mean to Meredy.

Please help, every Euro, Pound or Dollar will be used directly for Meredy's treatment.

Why I'm involved:

My Daughter lives in Tenerife and has known Seven and Dunia for some years. I have always been involved in charity work; while living in Tenerife myself, I undertook a number of charity events to help the Lions Club International raise funds for Cot Death Research, among others. The events included walking around the island of Tenerife, Rowing to Tenerife from La Gomera and climbing from Sea Level to The Peak of El Teide (3718m) in 2 days.
