The Route

This web page that will be always in construction, wants to be a humble homage to a small but enormous railroad that was born from and for the trade of the cork among the region of the Baix Empordà of Sant Feliu of Guixols to the city of Girona, impelled exclusively for local managers that achieved its objective with its great zeal, and that it supposed an important part later on in the development of Catalonia and in consequence for the rest of Spain, thanks to the communication between the marine side and the interior, where from there it was exported to the rest of the peninsula and foreigner by the connection with the Girona station, in front of which I raised myself.

Very little information exists in the whole net, pictures and still of foreign authors, English mostly.
I seek to gather all kinds of graphic documents, writings and human, to share it with other fans and lovers of this beloved railroad. In this task, I found a remote possibility in a train simulator program, Train Simulator of Microsoft, that could make reality my dream, travel in, ...virtualy again.
And the enormous task began this way of gathering data of the route to be able to recreate it faithfully, ...visits to museums, pictures of the buildings that are still in , and some of the characteristics buildings of the route, interviews with people that had direct reference with it, and many walks on the current Green Route.
    • some troubles by the roadI begin to work in different programs that would make possible their realization, some completely unknown ones for my. In all this task I was helped a lot from a web page, TrenSim, who their components helped me to pay the multiple problems that I found.

    • coMuch has to thank to so much people that I have meet by the road, and that they have been made echo of my project, making possible their recreation. It exists also a project , in a next web to appear of the Associació d'Amics of the Railroad of the Comarques Gironines, of which have the honor of possessing partner's identification card with the Nº 217 ,y in which one will have a special attention to this Railroad, to be part of their components, exhaustive experts of the topic.There is a very special collaborator that has made possible the recreation on behalf of the material motor and towed that it is the one that at the moment is within our reach, the locomotive SFG 20 and the boxcars of goods of high and low borders that we owe them to the friend Francesc Blanch (mestral), as well as many objects that have incorporated to the route, the documentation contributed by the President of the Association Ignasi Griñón, it has been indispensable to complete the project.

 

i humI have to thank all the people that have collaborated in the realization of this web, the surrender of the material for their public and gratuitous diffusion of the existent documents on so beloved railroad in the county of Girona. If somebody was interested in sharing documents or family pictures in those that appears the train or their environment, landscapes, etc..., and that they will be good to recreate the landscapes of the route that I am creating, together with the friend Francesc Blanch (mestral), creator of the rolling material and other objects, we would expose the pictures in this web.
