DISEÑO DE LAS INSTALACIONES DE UN CLUB DE REMO EN EL NUEVO RIO TURIA, VALENCIA, ESPAÑA.

Academic Problem.
Problema Académico.

The city of Valencia, Spain, has published a competition to select a design for a Rowing Club Facility on the New Turia River. The winner will be commissioned to provide the construction drawings.
La ciudad de Valencia, España, ha publicado un concurso para seleccionar un diseño para una Instalación de Club de Remo en el Nuevo Rio Turia. Encargarán al ganador que proporcione los planos de construcción.

Valencian Rowing Federation acts as project's promoter.
La Federación Valenciana de Remo actúa como promotor del proyecto.

The construction drawings must be done in the standard required by the competition's sponsor. The standard is an Internet Based Utility called G-Protocol supported and promoted by the G-Group of Academic International Research.
An invited expert architect, that comes from Valencia, Spain, in representation of the said G-Group, and the Valencia Rowing Federation, as coodinator,  will be available during the beginning of the construction drawing development phase to train the winning team in the application of G-Protocol.
Los planos de construcción se deben hacer en el estándar requerido por el patrocinador del concurso. El estándar es una Utilidad Basada en Internet llamada Protocolo G apoyado y promovido por el Grupo G de Investigación Académica Internacional.
Un arquitecto experto invitado, que viene de Valencia, España, en representación de dicho Grupo G, y de la Federación de Remo de Valencia, como coodinator, estará disponible durante el inicio de la fase de desarrollo de los planos de construcción para instruir al equipo ganador en la aplicación de Protocolo G.

This problem will be divided into three parts:
Este problema se dividirá en tres partes:

1. A design charrette: Each student will create a schematic design for the new rowing club on the designated site. The best design will be selected by a faculty jury.
Time schedule: 4 weeks.
1. Un anteproyecto: Cada estudiante confeccionará un diseño esquemático para el nuevo Club de Remo sobre el solar designado. El mejor diseño será seleccionado por un jurado de facultad.
Programa de tiempo: 4 semanas.

2. Design development: The students will be join into teams to design and integrate the building systems for the winning design. During this phase, the students will be introduced to G-Protocol and trained in its use.
Time schedule: 2 weeks.
2. Desarrollo de Proyecto: Los estudiantes se agruparán en equipos para diseñar e integrar los sistemas de edificación para el diseño ganador. Durante esta fase, se introducirá a los estudiantes en el uso del Protocolo G. y se les instruirá en su uso.
Programa de tiempo: 2 semanas.

3. Construction drawings: Each student will be assigned drawing sheets to bring up to the level of construction drawings.
Time schedule: 4 weeks.

Requirements

Design Charrette: The students' presentation must consist of colored, rendered manual drawings. Drawings must include: rendered site plan, floor plans, elevations, building cross section, perspectives or isometrics. A building and site model must be included. The students will be graded as follows:
Anteproyecto: La presentación de los estudiantes debe consistir en dibujos manuales de representación coloreados. Los dibujos deben incluir: plano de solar representado, planos de plantas, alzados, sección transversal constructiva, perspectivas o isométricas. Se deben de incluir un edificio y el modelo de solar. Los estudiantes serán calificados de la siguiente manera:

Graphic communication: Do the student' drawings communicate your design visually? Are they readable from from the jury wiewpoint? Do they reflect skill in the use of color and rendering techniques?
Comunicación gráfica: ¿Comunican los dibujos del estudiante su diseño visualmente? ¿ Son legibles desde el punto de vista del jurado? Reflejan habilidad en el uso de técnicas de representación y color?

Design: Does the student's design solve the problems inherent to this type of building? Are code issues adequately addressed? Are the spaces in the building appropriately sized? Is circulation logical and efficient? Do the number of plumbing fixture units comply with code and design recommendations? Is there sufficient mechanical space for equipment and ductwork? How does the design relate to the site? Is the design unique, creative and congruent?
Diseño: ¿Soluciona el diseño del estudiante los problemas inherentes a este tipo de edificio? ¿Están suficientemente tratadas las cuestiones de código? ¿Los espacios del edificio están apropiadamente dimensionados? ¿La circulación es lógica y eficiente? ¿El número de unidades de instalación de fontanería cumplen con el código y las recomendaciones de diseño? ¿Hay suficiente espacio mecánico para el equipo y red de conductos? ¿Cómo se relaciona el diseño con el solar? ¿El diseño es original, creativo y congruente?

Design Development: During this phase, the teams will work on correcting any jury comments and developing the structural, mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems. Teams will present their work to the instructor for review and comments. A progress set of drawings will be graded. Each student will be graded on the completeness and quality of your work and your participation in the team as indicated by your teammates. You will be introduced to G-Protocol by the invited expert from Spain.
Desarrollo de Proyecto: Durante esta fase, los equipos trabajarán en la corrección de cualquier comentario de jurado y desarrollo de los sistemas estructural, mecánico, eléctrico, y de fontanería. Los equipos presentarán su trabajo al instructor para revisión y comentarios. Se calificará el progreso de juego de dibujos. Cada alumno será clasificado sobre la totalidad y la calidad de su trabajo y su participación en el equipo tal como sea sugerido por sus compañeros de equipo. El alumno será introducido en el Protocolo G. por el experto invitado de España.

Construction Drawings: Each student will be assigned one or more of the following drawings to complete. Although you will be working individually on these drawings, you should consider this a team project, because you must communicate with one another and help one another to minimize conflicts between drawings and to coordinate their format. The following drawings will be assigned:
Planos de Construcción: A cada alumno se le adsignarán uno o varios de los siguientes planos para ser completados. Aunque el estudiante trabaje individualmente sobre estos dibujos, debería considerar ésto  dentro de un proyecto de equipo, porque los alumnos deben comunicarse entre ellos y ayudarse para minimizar conflictos entre planos y coordinar su formato. If it is necessary, this schedule will be completed ( extended or limited ) during the Workshop Part 2 "Design Development " 
Si es necesario, esta lista será completada ( ampliada o redicida ) durante la parte 2 del Taller de Dersarrollo de Diseño

Each student will be graded on the completeness of the drawings assigned to they, their conformity to the standards established for the set of drawings, particularly regarding size and type of lettering fonts, symbols, notation, etc., the correctness of the drawings, and compliance with the required protocol.
The final drawings set must be plotted on format sheets that will be indicated during the part 2 of design development and bound.  
Cada estudiante será calificados sobre la totalidad de los planos asignados, su conformidad a los estándares establecidos para el juego de planos, en particular en cuanto al tamaño y tipo de fuentes de rotulación, símbolos, notación, etc., el exactitud de los dibujos, y cumplimiento con el protocolo requerido.
El juego de dibujos final debe ser trazado sobre hojas de formato que será indicado durante la Parte 2 de Desarrollo de Diseño y encarpetado.

Course Procedures
Procedimientos de Curso

During Phase I, the instructor will take a half hour or so to discuss and exchange information about the project. He will then meet with each student to discuss his ideas, progress, and schedule. After the first week, each student should have design sketches to show to instructor.
Durante la Fase I, el instructor empleará media hora aproximadamente para hablar e intercambiar la información sobre el proyecto. Se reunirá entonces con cada estudiante para hablar de sus ideas, progreso, y programa. Después de la primera semana, cada estudiante debería tener esbozos de diseño para presentar al instructor.

During Phase II, our invited expert architect from Spain will assist the students in setting up and using the drawing protocol.
Durante la Fase II, nuestro arquitecto experto invitado de España ayudará a los estudianes a establecer y usar el protocolo de dibujo.

During Phase III, the instructor will discuss each drawing in an architectural set of drawings so each student will know exactly the purpose of the drawing and what it should include. Since each student will be doing an entire set of construction drawings on his own during the senior project, all students should be present during these discussions. At the end of the second week of this phase, the instructor will expect a check set drawings, which he will mark up. The students should include these corrections on the final set of drawings.
Durante la Fase III, el instructor comentará cada plano dentro del juego de dibujos arquitectónicos de modo que cada estudiante sabrá exactamente el objetivo del plano y lo que éste debería incluir. Ya que cada estudiante hará un juego completo de planos de construcción sobre su propio proyecto mayor, todos los estudiantes deberían estar presentes durante estas discusiones. Al final de segunda semana de esta fase, el instructor esperará un juego de planos de control, en los que corregirá. Los estudiantes deberán incluir estas correcciones en el juego final de planos.
