Barry
is an author and book collector. He helped compile the bibliography
found in these pages. Prior to losing his sight – “not
a good career move for a ship bottler” he says – he
was Archivist and Vice President of the European
Association of Ships in Bottles. If you are interested

I
have now been bottling ships since 1995. Before that, for many
a year, I had been making conventional ship models. I first came
across the work of Juan Rodriguez at an exhibition held by the
Naval league of Spain, and was immediately
smitten by this branch of the hobby. After, my close friend and
missing Luis María de Palacio, with the one that I shared
many hours, he taught me diverses techniques and tricks to mount
bottled ships. From here I want to dedicate a reminder to his
