WHO WE ARE

Autopista6 are four friends who love bluegrass music. Those of you who do not know much about what this bluegrass thing is, click HERE and you will get some information about it. The first time we gathered to play together was in the month of November, 2004, and we have built up a respectable repertoire ever since, playing it out as often as possible and very enthusiastically indeed.

THE MANDOLIN...
THE BANJO...

Montse Serramia is our mandolin player, and how she does play, man!, and due to her strong personality and superior intelligence, she is our unquestionable leader. But the truth is one of the other three members of the band is not aware of this fact...

...and who is he? Well, he is Javier Sánchez “Viermont”, who plays the banjo and thinks HE is the leader. But, as he plays the banjo, and considering how this fact affects his emotional stability, we just don't tell him anything about all this business and we leave him alone with his instrument and his virtual leadership...

EL BAJO ELÉCTRICO...

Y LA GUITARRA...

Neither Montse nor Javier would dare to sing, something the whole world really appreciates. It is Alfredo Gómez “Friki” and Jesús del Saz-Orozco who take the burden here. Apart from singing, Alfredo plays the electric bass. Impetuous when singing and playing, he is also a neverending source of information about the artists belonging to the world of bluegrass and blues. So much so that if we ask him who played the slide guitar in the fourth cut of the third album of the Flying Burrito Brothers, jus as an example, well, he knows and can tell you; if what we want to know is who sang the harmony vocals in the seventh cut of the eleventh album of Eric Clapton, again he knows. As he stores such a huge amount of information in his little brain, he is a bit befuddled, so we will not be surprised to know how well he clicks with Javier... but who really clicks with Javier is Montse for reasons that are of no relevance right now.
And last but not least is Jesús. Apart from singing (or whatever) Jesús plays the acoustic guitar. He thinks he plays rather well, but the truth is that he was admitted in the group because there are not many bluegrass guitar players around: like water in the desert, they are basically scarce. And so, apart from being really thankful for being admitted, he is at the same time really frightened by the constant threats coming from Javier, who is all the time telling him that unless he gets better in his playuing, he will call María Luisa to substitute him. And who the heck is Maria Luísa, you will ask? Well, she is a singer and guitar player who dwells in Javier's imagination, in other words, a similar case to that of his being the leader of the band. But as we said before, in the end it is the banjo that Javier plays, and so we still take him the way he is.

Anyway, what is sure is that in Autopista6 humor and enthusiasm is always present, and what is really important to us is not only the musical connection we have but our personal relationships outside music. For the greatest thing about music is probably that it becomes an incredible means to establish bonds of friendship. Let it last for ever...

Play your banjo solid, John
