This word is #alHurriyyah ألحرية, "Freedom",
pronounced "ul-hoor-ree-yah".
It's written #alHryh ألحريه, with six letters:
Copy it a few times. Go very slowly and one stroke at a time, otherwise you'll get confused.
The letter ل is usually a
#alif ألف stroke two squares high,
but here I've put it on the crocodrile jaws ( ح).
(see section Joining a Letter to a Following Haa# حاء). There's no need to shorten
it so much as I have; you should probably make it longer.
Whatever length looks right to you will be all right.
The two dots under the yaa# ياء should in principle
be under the tooth, or a little to the left.
But in this case the letter ر gets in the way,
crossing the place where the dots
should be. We can avoid this by placing the dots even
further to the left, or maybe under the ر. Most software
drawing Arabic letters on a screen will solve the problem
by moving the tooth to the left. Fortunately neurons
are not as restricted as
software, so we'll be able, almost
always, to draw the bodies of all the letters in the word without
worrying about the dots, and to add the dots afterwards.
To finish today's lesson, copy the word a few times, this time on white paper, without any grid. I'll give it a shot too:
Oops. Only the one on the left looks more or less acceptable. Maybe I shouldn't be using a mouse to draw. As soon as the income from this website allows, I'll get a scanner.
