If this were an "Arabic for travellers" guide, I'd do so.
However, this is not a website for travellers. It is for people who want to know how to WRITE Arabic exactly, nodjast dawéi tuspickit raflee.
If I write صيف like Sayf, so that you know that the word is written with a S ص and a y ي, so that you can reread the pages S ص and y ي if necessary. From those pages you can get to the part where it is explained that Say صي always sounds lake sye. If I thought that you were not smart enough to figure that out by yourself, and that you were not interested in knowing the Arabic letters, I'd just write SIFE directly.
But I cannot do that because this website is for people learning the alphabet, so if aI were to write SIFE alongside صيف, people would thing that the funny thing in the middle of that word, that with two dots under it, is an "I", and they would not be able to find the page where I explain the letter ي.

writing_arabic -> if the Arabic word for summer sounds like SIFE, why do you write it like Sayf with a funny dot before the s? Just write SIFE, it's less confusing!
