The locomotive 444-01 “LOBRAS” has a whole set of new technological items very promising in the field of the miniature tripulate locomotives.

A microprocessor with a programable automaton (Siemens LOGO! v5) carries out the general supervision and the machine's safety with a connetion to sensors, to frequency inverters and to the thermic engine.
The high level of the integration among all components makes the programmable automaton with its software do the supervision of the routine and security operations, leaving the train driver the pleasure of driving. This locomotive do not allow forbidden, improper or dangerous operations.

Another novelty is that each wheel carries its own engine, which is independent of the others. This way, wheels never slip in bends and keep a perfect adherence on the rail in all moment.

The locomotive functions that are built-in are the followings:

- Totally automatic emergency stop.
- Dead man device (with emergency stop).
- Speed limitation (with emergency stop, too).
- Supervision and compressed air pressure alarm within the brakes circuit.
- Supervision and alarm of any mechanical overload within the traction engines.
- Electric supervision of the four traction engines and individual alarm within each engine.
- Temperature supervision into sensitive zones.

- Supervision of the two cab dashboards: Inverter, speed regulator, etc.

- Warning of the oil change in the thermic engine.
- Revolution supervision of the wheels.

By driving this locomotive, we can firstly notice the comfort of the drivers place and the confidence it provides because of the good response of the dashboards. The train driver has a complete field of sight. The driver must basically care about the speed regulation, the controls of the wheels compressed air, the headlight switch (2 intensities) amb the whistle. All tran drivers who have drived this locomotive have shown the pleasure of driving a large locomotive because it is not a toy on a rail but a real locomotive.

Any incidence during the journey is warned to the train driver by an optic and an acoustic sign. Depending on its seriousness, it can stop the locomotive and stop the thermic engine automatically. Finally, I just want to comment that the locomotive owns multipolar frontal electric connectors. It has also a 230 V 50 Hz and a 12 V DC power point. To end up, the locomotive has got a toolbox and a box with documentation.
