Every day the National Cancer Institute spends over three million dollars , they are joined by organizations such as the American Cancer Society, which spends another million dollars a day on cancer research. You might think that with so much money being spent, we´d be making progress. But the war on cancer isn´t going very well.
The most common cancers - cancers of the lung, colon, breast, prostrate, pancreas and ovary - together account for the most cancer deaths. The death rate from these cancers has either stayed the same, or increased, during the past 50 year. And the statistics for the less common cancers are equally bleak.
The three cancer treatments most fashionable today are surgery, radiation and chemotherapy. Each is evasive, each has devastating side effects, each treats only symptoms. And their rate of success is thoroughly underwhelming.
One man who knows to what lengths these organizations are sometimes forced to go in their effort to retain public confidence is John Bailar, former editor of the Journal of the National Cancer Institute, Bailar who worked for the institute for 25 years told the 1985 annual meeting of the American Association for the Advancement of Science that today more people with benign or mild diseases are being included in the statistics, in order to make it seem like more cancer victims are being cured.
Another tactic, which makes it appear things are getting better then they are, is to define a cancer patient as "cured" if he or she has survived for five years after being diagnosed, and is free of obvious symptoms. With early enough detection, many cancer victims will indeed fit the criteria of "cured." However in many cases, this early detection does not change the date of death, but only the length of time the person is aware he or she has cancer.
Today, treating cancer is a huge business. Every 30 seconds another American is diagnosed as having the disease. Every 55 seconds, another American dies of cancer.
In 1976, the United States Senate Select Committee on Nutrition and Human Needs, under the chairmanship of Senator George McGovern, convened public hearings on the health effects of the modern American diet. At one point in the proceedings, McGovern pointedly asked National Cancer Institute director Arthur Upton how many cancers are caused by diet. The head of the largest cancer organization in the world replied "up to 50%."
Organizations like the National Cancer Institute are not encouraged to focus much attention on prevention (by diet) because there is vastly more money to be made in treatment, and far more glamour in the possibility, however remote, of a cure. (however in recent years, due to more public awareness, this has somehow changed and more attention is paid to the role of diet in the prevention of diseases).
- Attention is further drawn away from prevention by food industries whose products are known to be involved. They apply immense pressure on government and public health organizations to keep them from informing the public as to what is known about dietary prevention.
Cancer researchers have investigated just which lifestyle factors produce high rates of cancer. In the prestigious Advances in Cancer Research, they conclude:
" At present we have overwhelming evidence .... (that) none of the risk factors for cancer is .... more significant than diet and nutrition."
Dr. Gio B. Gori, the Deputy Director of the National Cancer Institute´s Division of Cancer Cause and Prevention, also the director of the National Cancer Institute´s diet, Nutrition and Cancer program testified to the Senate Select Committee:
"Nutritional Science is coming of age .... No other field of research seems to hold better promise for the prevention and control of cancer and other illnesses, and for securing and maintaining human health."
Of course, the Senate wanted to know just what the dietary influences are that promote cancer. Most of us think of chemical additives, such as preservatives, artificial colors and flavors. But bad as these are, it turns out they are not the chief culprits. Dr. Gori told Congress:
" Until recently many eyebrows have been raised by suggesting that an imbalance of normal dietary components could lead to cancer and cardiovascular disease .... Today, the accumulation of .... evidence .... makes this notion not only possible but certain .... (The) dietary factors responsible (are) principally meat and fat intake."
The Federal Trade Commission wanted an impartial expert witness to assist their efforts in determining whether the same diets that cause heart disease could also cause cancer. They called a nutritional scientist from Harvard University, Dr. Mark Hegstead. He testified:
" I think that it is clear that the American diet is indicted as a cause of coronary heart disease. And it is pertinent, I think, to point out the same diet is now found (guilty) in terms of many forms of cancer: breast cancer, cancer of the colon, and others...."
In the 1970´s a number of studies were published in the Journal of the National Cancer Institute which reported that the incidence of colon cancer was high precisely those regions where meat consumption was high, and low where meat consumption was low. (See Modern Diet and its Consequences)
FIBER
Fiber acts like a broom in your intestines, sweeping things along. Without it wastes get blocked up, and the length of time your food takes to pass through your colon is greatly increased. This is particularly true if your diet contains animal fat, because animal fats are solid at body temperature. They clog up your intestines just as grease clogs up drains.
In addition fiber helps to dilute, bind and deactivate many carcinogens.
The digestion of meat itself produces strong carcinogenic substances in the colon and meat-eaters must produce extensive bile acids in their intestines to deal with the meat they eat, particularly deoxycholic acid. This is extremely significant, because deoxycholic acid is converted by clostridia bacteria in our intestines into powerful carcinogens. The fact that meat eaters invariably have far more deoxycholic acid in their intestines than do vegetarians is one of the reasons they have so much higher rates of colon cancer. Putrefying animal products are far more toxic than rotting plant products, and meat eater´s colons are continually subjected to these toxins.
The human intestine has a very hard time handling the putrefying bacteria, high levels of fat, and lack of fiber that characterize meat, dairy products and eggs. There are other animals, though, whose intestines seem to be designed for the task.
The human intestine is anatomically very different from that of the natural carnivores, such as dogs, and cats. Because of the design of their intestines, these animals are virtually guaranteed short transit times.
Our bowels are deeply puckered; theirs are smooth. Ours are full of pouches; theirs have none. Our colons are long, complex pathways, like winding mountain road full of hairpin turns, theirs are short, straight chutes, like wide open freeways. The toxins from putrefying flesh are not the problem for them as they are for us because everything passes through them so much more quickly. Dogs, cats, and the other natural carnivores do not get colon cancer from high-fat, low-fiber, flesh-based diets. But we do.
Oriental people and those living in developing nations do not suffer from bowel disorders to the same extent that Americans do because their diet is less refined and includes more vegetables and fiber rich foods. The incidence of colon cancer in the United States is 900% higher than in Nigeria and 1300% greater than in Uganda, two countries in which the diet is traditionally high in fiber. Yet after two generations of living in the U.S. , American blacks contract colon cancer at the same rate as American whites. Second generation Japanese-Americans living in Hawaii, having left their traditional high-fiber diet, also contract colon cancer at the same rate as the rest of the American public.
If the bloodstream is filled with fat and mucus, excess will begin to accumulate in the organs. Since the lungs and kidneys are usually affected first, their functions of filtering and cleansing the blood becomes less efficient. This situation leads to further deterioration of the blood quality and also affects the lymphatic system. Operations such as tonsilectiomies also contribute to the deterioration of the lymphatic system, since they reduce the ability of this system to cleanse itself. Such operations eventually lead to frequent swelling and lymph gland inflammation, producing a chronic deterioration of the quality of the blood, particularly the red blood cells. When the red blood cells then begin to loose their capacity to change into normal body cells, they start to create the degenerate type of cell that is known as cancerous.
Poorly functioning intestines can also contribute to the degeneration of blood quality, since blood cells and plasma originate largely in the small intestine. In many cases, the villi of the small intestine are coated with fat and mucus, and the condition in the intestines is often acidic. Naturally, healthy blood will not be created in this type of environment.
Cancer is thus the result of a general body-wide deterioration, and to prevent the organism as a whole from being poisoned, the body attempts to concentrate the cancerous cells in a particular location. The concentration depends on which type of food is primarily responsible for the formation of the cancerous cells.
There are cancers caused by excessive yin eating , and cancers caused by excessive yang eating ,though there is always a combination of both. There are yin and yang cancers. Depending on which kind of cancer is present, the treatment would vary. (To understand Yin and Yang see yin-yang)

Yin cancers usually develop at the periphary of the body, or in the more yin hollow organs, and vice versa with yang cancer. However, this classification is not absolute.
|
Although on the whole the stomach is a yin organ, cancers which appear in the more expanded parts are more yin, resulting from the intake of foods such as sugar, monosodium glutomate (MSG), white refined rice and flour, and other yin products; while those which develop in the more yang pylorus or duodenum result from the overconsumption of meat, eggs, fish and other more yang products. Since these more yin foods are consumed widely in Japan, the people in that nation have a very high incidence of stomach cancer, while other types of cancer, such as those resulting from the intake of saturated fat, are more predominant in America. |
|
Cancers which develop in the more expanded region of the stomach are generally more yin, while those arising in the more contracted region are generally more yang. |
BREAST CANCER
Very few woman will ever have
been told that the higher the percentage of fat in a woman´s diet, particularly
animal fat, the greater risk she runs of getting the disease. Nor will any
of them likely be told that the prognosis for a woman with breast cancer varies
statistically according to her fat intake. The less fat she has eaten in her
lifetime, the greater hope she has, statistically, of beating the disease,
and the longer time she will, on the average, survive.
Sadly, one out of every ten women in the United States will eventually develop breast cancer, while billions of dollars continue to be poured into surgical techniques, sophisticated methods or radiotherapy, and the widespread use of chemotherapy. Yet the death rate for breast cancer has hardly changed since the days before the automobile was invented.

The largest cancer studies in medical history have been headed by Dr. Takeshi Hirayama, at the National Cancer Research Institute in Tokyo, where as many as 122,000 people have been monitored for decades.
In one study, Dr. Hirayama and his co-workers investigated the risk of breast cancer for women according to their intake of meat, eggs, butter and cheese. The findings were not easy for the meat, dairy, and egg industry to swallow. Those who consume meat daily face an almost four times greater risk of getting breast cancer than those who eat little or no meat. Similarly the more eggs consumed, the greater the risk of breast cancer. The more butter and cheese consumed, the greater the risk of breast cancer.
|
|
(Breast cancer arises the combination of both extremes. The saturated fats contained in meat, eggs, and dairy products combine with the effects of sugar and other yin products (yin -yang) to produce this conditon).
THE
BREASTS- The accumulation of excess in this area often results in a hardening
of the breasts, as well as in the formation of cysts. Excess usually accumulates
in the breasts in the form of mucus and deposits of fatty acid, both of which
take the form of sticky or heavy liquid. These deposits develop into cysts
in the same way that water freezes into ice, and this occurs when foods like
ice cream, sugar, orange, juice, soft drinks, and other cold beverages are
consumed on a regular basis. All of these produce a cooling effect which causes
these stored deposits to crystallize.
Aside from proper eating, the primary method of relieving this condition is to literally "melt away" these hard deposits. (using for example the ginger compress and other external applications).
DIAGNOSIS
Ninety per cent of breast cancer in the United States is diagnosed following discovery of a lump by the woman or her partner. Although 80% of lumps are classified as benign, doctors like to take a soft tissue x-ray of the entire breast called a mammogram. If a malignancy is suspected, a biopsy will be taken to determine whether the growth is a cyst or a tumor. Hormone tests, x-ray of the chest and skeleton, bone marrow aspiration, and scans of liver and bone will generally follow.
In addition to self examination, oriental diagnosis looks for signs of developing mammary disorders in the condition and the complexion of the cheeks. As a result of parallel embryonic development, the cheeks reflect underlying changes in the chest region, including the lungs and breasts, and in the reproductive region.
Cheeks with well-developed firm flesh and a clean, clear skin color show sound respiratory and digestive functions, specially if there are no wrinkles or pimples in the area. Red or pink cheeks, except during vigorous exercise or when out in a cold weather, show abnormal expansion of the blood capillaries, caused by heart and circulatory disorders due to the consumption of yin foods (see yin- yang) and drinks including fruits, juices, sugar and drugs. Milky white cheeks are caused by the overconsumption of dairy products such as milk, cheese, cream, and yogurt. A pinkish shade mixed with the white indicates excessive intake of flour products and fruits. Both these colors indicate accumulation of fat and mucus in various regions in the body, including the breasts, lungs, intestines, and reproductive organs.
Fatty spots that are dark, red or white in color on the cheeks are a sign of fat accumulation in either the lungs or breast and often accompany the beginning of cyst or tumor formation. Coffee and other stimulant, aromatic beverages may contribute to the appearance of this color on the cheeks. Pimples on the cheeks show the elimination of excessive fat and mucus caused by the intake of animal food, dairy products, and oils and fats. If these pimples are whitish in color, the main cause is milk and sugar. If yellowish, the cause is cheese, poultry and eggs. A green shade on the cheeks shows that cancer is developing in the breasts, lungs, or large intestine.
Certain colors and marks appearing on the white of the eye also indicate abnormal conditions in the corresponding areas of the body. In the case of the breasts, a transparent or pale white color in the upper outer region of the eye shows the presence of stagnated fat and mucus, which may be growing into a cyst or tumor. Cataracts may also indicate cyst formation. If these colorings or swellings occur in the right eye, the right breast is affected; if in the left eye, the left breast.
Green vessels appearing along the heart governor meridian or Long meridian from the wrist toward the elbow on the inside softer side of the arm also show the development of cancerous conditions in the breast or lung region. A similar condition is indicated by the appearance of green and dark colors, together with irregular swelling on the inside of the wrist.
DIETARY RECOMMENDATIONS
For breast cancer, all dairy food and all fatty, oily food, including meat, poultry, eggs, and other animal products, are to be eliminated. Sugar, honey, and other sweeteners as well as soft drinks and other foods and beverages treated with sugar are also to be avoided. Tropical fruit, fruit juices, and vegetables such as potato, yam, sweet potato, asparagus, tomato and eggplant should not be consumed. Because they are excessively mucus producing, all flour products are to be avoided except for occasional consumption of nonyeasted unleavened whole-wheat or rye bread. Chemicalized and artificially produced and treated foods and beverages are to be completely eliminated. Even unsaturated vegetable oil is to be completely avoided or minimized in cooking for a one or two month period. All ice cold foods and drinks including ice cream should be avoided. Although they are not the cause of breast cancer, all stimulants, spices, coffee, alcohol, and aromatic fragrant beverages and drugs should be avoided because they enhance tumor development.

FOODS WHICH ARE MORE YANG Many of the foods being consumed at present on a regular basis are more yang than those included on the standard diet we recommend. These products, which many people are eating daily, include: - Eggs FOODS WHICH ARE MORE YIN The following products, all of which are being consumed regularly, are more yin than those included on the standard diet we recommend: - Chemicals (additives, sprays,
fertilizers, drugs, medications, etc.)

You can find a general recommended dietary guideline in: How Should We Eat?
Note: Food is one of the most important issues concerning cancer but we wish to mention that there can be also other factors involved like stress, radiation, environmental issues, fluoride, vaccinations, drugs, medicines, drinking water quality, power lines, electromagnetic fields, etc. etc.
OTHER CONSIDERATIONS
Breast cancer patients are subject to depression and should do everything possible to mantain a cheerful and calm attitude. Smile, be optimistic, dance, sing, and enjoy each day for itself.
Daily scrubbing of the whole body with a towel that has been immersed in hot gingerroot water ginger compress helps to accelerate circulation of body fluids and energy. It will also help to eliminate through the skin accumulated toxins caused by intake of excessive fat and protein.
Avoid wearing wool and synthetic fabrics. At the minimum wear cotton underwear and sleep on cotton sheets and pillow cases.
Avoid wearing metallic jewelry, including rings, bracelets, and necklaces. These pick up excess charges from the atmosphere and transmit them to the internal organs via the meridians running along the fingers and hands. It is fine, though to wear a wedding ring.
Avoid watching television for long stretches. Radiation weakens the chest area. Similarly, avoid other artificial sources of electromagnetic energy such as video terminals, smoke detectors, and hand-held electrical appliances.
If possible, avoid birth control pills or estrogen replacements. These are extremely weakening and can accelerate breast cancer.
If you have a baby, breastfeed the baby if you are able. There is no danger of transmitting the disease to your child, and breastfeeding will have a protective effect on both mother and baby.

Note: It is advisable for the person that suspects cancer
or illness to seek the guidance of a physician and appropiate nutritionist.
This should not be used as a substitute for professional medical care or treatment.
One of the most common problems in cancer patients who choose to undergo conventional cancer therapy is recurrence. They might think they have beaten their cancer with chemotherapy, radiation, and surgery, only to find a few years later that tumors have spread into other tissues -- usually the lungs, brain, or even the reproductive organs. Conventional medicine has not yet caught on to what's happening here, but the reason why this phenomenon occurs is quite simple: Conventional cancer treatments only treat the symptoms of cancer (tumors or growths) and do not actually do anything to help the patient regain a level of health necessary to keep cancer in check. The cancer industry remains ignorant of useful treatmentsAmazingly, after decades of research, and billions of dollars spent on cancer research, the conventional cancer industry remains oblivious to this simple truth about cancer. They don't teach cancer prevention, and they don't believe in cancer cures even though many exist. They are still treating the water rather than the dam by treating the tumors rather than the underlying problem. Mike Adams |
