Taking the lid off and Entangled Monk

Born in London, I studied philosophy, IT and Spanish whilst teaching Tai Chi as the Teapotmonk. Having learnt 3 different styles of Tai Chi, students would constantly ask which was the better. In order to avoid such comparisons and to sidestep the whole debate about which style was more authentic/effective/true etc I did away with all tags and labels and set up the style with no name - but this just led to large gaps on advertising posters - so I went back to naming and called it teapot tai chi.
Having done this, I got very confused and in 1995 decided to move to Spain instead.

I should have spent one year at Seville University (but I was mostly in the cafe outside), two years in the town of Toledo working in a Jazz bar and writing a small walking guide to the city. I then moved south and spent seven years on the coast of Granada working the summer and easter markets. Two years ago I began to contribute articles to a range of travel and spanish related media, some of those articles appear on this site.

I write on Spanish history and politics, patterns of tourism and ecological and technological developments on the Spanish mainland.

I have also written for on-line resources, newsletters and travel related sites.

In search of a little respite from the maddening crowds, Cherry - my partner - , our dog, cat and plants have moved inland to a small town west of Granada capital where I continue my search for the path that leads to the perfect manchada.
