Monday to Friday 9.30 to 1.30 (Saturday morning close at 1.00 pm.)Shop 'Manageress' - Martha Bohlmeijer who speaks English, Spanish, French, Dutch and German.
The 'Help of Denia' Charity Shop has been in its present premises for just over a year. The previous shop was started with the idea of raising money to pay for an interpreter to be on duty at the hospital over the weekend.
The shop is manned by a team of volunteers who work in groups of 3 on the day of their choice. By advertising in the local English press, people know that they can bring their surplus clothing and donate it so that it can be sold at a fair and reasonable price to the public who have come to realise what excellent bargains can be had. And such is the quality of some of the donated clothing, that Martha has recently opened a 'Boutique Corner' which is proving to be a great attraction for discerning customers. Volunteers are always welcome to help in the shop. Please phone Martha on 96-642-7044 (mornings only).
Sales at the shop have been such that as well as funding the weekend interpreting service, we have been able to add to the stocks of equipment available for loan. (see 'Equipment Available for Loan')
It must be remembered that before the necessary 'profits' can be made, rent must be paid and services such as heating and lighting have to be covered, so the fact that it is such a success story in such a short time is all due to those who worked so hard to organise the operation, prepared and fitted out the premises, and gave so generously of their time and labour - and in some cases of materials. A list of these donors appears below:
Ferro Denia SL (Denia)
Fontanero Morera (Denia)
Marinacolor SL (Denia)
Saneamientos Ferrer SL (Denia)
SK Escayolas Servando (Denia)
Tent Costa (La Xara)
Valro Compro SL (Denia)
Xabiallum SL (Xabia, Javea)
And for those of you who wish to donate any items to the shop - it would be helpful if you could bring it at a
time when the shop is open. Please do not leave anything in the street or in the doorway entrance.
